Dr
Ash Patel, MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFPBM,
graduated from Manchester in 1995. He spent 2 years in General
Medicine with an interest in Cardiology before undertaking a Vocational Training
Scheme in his hometown of Stockport, Cheshire. He completed the Stockport VTS in
2000 and became a full-time partner in a large local practice.
He
has been involved with PasTest since this time, initially through lecturing and
then through the development of the book title 'Hot Topics for the MRCGP and
General Practitioners' which is now in its 4th Edition. He is actively involved
in GP education and is currently the Stockport Vocational Training Scheme
Organiser.
As
well as his educational interests he is involved in management at practice level
as Executive Partner and at PCT level. He has also been appointed as a founding
Director of an independent Stockport-wide Practice Based Commissioning (PBC)
organisation which controls the commissioning budget of the local PCT and is
Director of an independent NHS estates company undertaking development and
improvement of healthcare premises. He has been a Board member of the Local
Medical Committee since 2001
