Dr Louise Newson is a GP in Solihull, West Midlands.
Prior to becoming a GP, Louise held a number of different positions in the
hospital setting during which she gained extensive clinical experience.
Her clinical interests include management of chronic diseases such as diabetes,
ischaemic heart disease and asthma, and her knowledge and understanding of
managing these conditions has been particularly beneficial in General
Practice. She is pursuing this interest by contributing to the practice’s
chronic disease register, running regular clinics and performing practice
audits.
In addition to treating patients, Louise also enjoys writing about medical
conditions. She has a weekly column in GP Magazine called Pass Notes and
authored the books ‘Hot Topics for the MRCGP and General Practitioners’ and
‘MRCGP: Approaching the Modular Examination’. She also writes the
fortnightly Journal Roundup, articles and courses for www.onmedica.net.
