Lecturing Team for MRCP Part 2 London Five Day Course
Dr Michael Fertleman BA (Law) MA MBBS MRCP ILTM Of Gray's Inn, Barrister
Dr Fertleman studied preclinical medicine at Cambridge University and then completed a law degree. He took his clinical studies at Imperial College under a Harmsworth Scholarship. He is now a Consultant in General Medicine, Geriatrics and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation at St Mary's Hospital, London. Michael is passionate about teaching, and has been selected for an Imperial College award for teaching excellence and is a member of the Higher Education Academy.
He has taught aspects of Part 1 and Part 2 for MRCP since 2003. He has also been the course director of a PACES course, various communication skills courses and has organised the PACES exam on three occasions.
Dr Philip Gothard
Dr Philip Gothard is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and HIV at the Royal Free Hospital and an Honorary Lecturer in Tropical Medicine at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He has a research interest in malaria vaccines and has taught on MRCP courses since 1999.
Dr Keith Patterson
Dr Keith Patterson is Consultant Haematologist at University College London Hospitals and was previously Academic Senior Lecturer at University College London. Before moving to UCL he was NHS Consultant Haematologist at Barking and King George Hospitals in Essex for five years. His experience therefore incorporates both the best of academic haematology with the practical realities of a DGH. He has been teaching for the MRCP since 1998 and aims to improve understanding of haematological diseases and their management, not just a cram of essential facts pre-exam.
Dr Justin Davies
Dr Justin Davies is a British Heart Foundation sponsored junior research fellow, at the International Centre for Circulatory Health, St Mary’s Hospital. Research interests include coronary artery and aortic physiology and non-invasive imaging. He has been a PasTest lecturer for both MRCP Part I and Part II since 2006.
Dr Jonathan Rohrer
Dr Jonathan Rohrer is a Clinical Research Fellow at the Dementia Research Centre, Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London. He is currently researching speech production problems in dementia whilst continuing to do clinical work at both the National Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dr Andres Floto
Dr Andres Floto trained in Respiratory Medicine in London and is currently an MRC Clinician Scientist based at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, Cambridge University. His research interests include understanding myeloid cell responses during pathogen-host 3 interactions and the initiation of autoimmunity. He has been a PasTest lecturer for since 2005 and regularly teaches Respiratory Medicine on Part I and Part II courses.
Dr John Anderson
Dr John Anderson is a Consultant Physician working in London at the Homerton and Barts and the London NHS Trusts. He specialises in Diabetes/Endocrinology and acute general medicine. He enjoys human banter, and teaching. PasTest has provided an outlet for this part of him since the early 1980s.
Dr Shahir Hamdulay
Dr Shahir Hamdulay graduated from the Royal Free Hospital in 1999 and is currently a Specialist Registrar in general medicine and rheumatology in North West London. He regularly teaches on the MRCP Part 1 and 2 courses.
Dr David Makanjuola
Dr David Makanjuola is a Consultant Nephrologist at St. Helier Hospital, Surrey. He graduated from the College of Medicine, Ibadan, Nigeria and undertook postgraduate training at Guy's and St. Thomas' hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. His special areas of interest include renal physiology, vasculitis, dialysis and critical care nephrology.
